50. Amoreggiare al Monte Stella

Il Monte Stella, più comunemente conosciuto come la Montagnetta di San Siro, si trova in fondo al quartiere di QT8 . Una GoogleMap di questo punto è disponibile a questo link. Non avendo un granché da amoreggiare, per fare le foto ho approfittato di una splendida mattina autunnale a Milano, come ne capitano poche e sono salito in cima alla montagnetta all’alba.

The Monte Stella, more commonly known as the ”Montagnetta di San Siro”, is at the end of the QT8 district. A Google map of this area is available at this link. I have no much to flirt so, to make the pictures, I took advantage of a beautiful autumn morning in Milan, as it happened rarely, and at dawn I climbed on top.

Il monte stella è stato ideato e costruito nel dopoguerra, infatti nella zona vi era da un lato un’area incolta e brulla e dall’altro tonnellate di detriti post bellici. Milano fu bombardata e distrutta da tutte le parti.

The Monte Stella was designed and built after the war, in the area there was on one side a bare fallow area and on the other tons of post-war rubble. Milan was bombed and destroyed all over the city during the II World War.

Con il tempo si aggiunse altro materiale proveniente dalla demolizione degli ultimi tratti dei bastioni, avvenuta dopo il 1945.

The demolition of the last bastion of the city that occurred after 1945 added more material to the rubble.

Il progetto si deve all'architetto Piero Bottoni, che lo dedicò alla moglie Stella, da cui la collina prende il nome. La collina artificiale ha un’altezza di 170 metri sul livello del mare. Nel progetto originario del 1946, sarebbe dovuta essere più alta, ma venne limitata a causa di spinte laterali del terreno che potevano creare problemi ai vicini edifici. Rimane comunque il punto più alto della città.

The project was designed by architect Piero Bottoni, he dedicated it to his wife Stella, this is the reason why the mountain is called Stella. The artificial hill is 170 meters above sea level. In the original plan of 1946 it would have been higher, but it had limited due to lateral forces of the land that could have created problems for neighboring buildings. However remains the highest point of the city.

 

Il parco e veramente ben tenuto ed invoglia alla scalata. E possibile salire in cima essenzialmente per due tipi di vie, una con salite e curve dolci, l’altra attraverso scale ripide, dipende un po’ dalla vostra fretta.

The park is very well kept and invites you to climb. It is possible to climb to the top by two main types of routes, one with hills and gentle curves, the other by steep stairs, it depends a bit 'out of your rush.

Una volta in cima potrete godervi il panorama. La zona circostante è essenzialmente brutta periferia industriale. Però potrete ammirare lo Stadio di San Siro e  se non c’è foschia, le Prealpi Lombarde e la Madonnina.

Once on top you can enjoy the view. The surrounding area is essentially ugly industrial suburbs. But you can admire the San Siro Stadium and if there is no fog, the Alps of Lombardy and the “Madonnina” on the top of the Duomo.

Il bello qui è il parco stesso, con una superficie di 311.160 m² tra zone boschive e prati, è uno dei polmoni verdi della città. Trovate una panchina tranquilla, godetevi il silenzio e tranquillità e baciate la vostra metà.

The beauty here is the park itself, with an area of 311,160 m² of woodland and meadows, is one of the green lungs of the city. Find a quiet park bench, enjoy the peace and tranquility, kissing your sweetheart.

b. Barbaiana Palio di Santa Virginia

Barbaiana Piazza della Vittoria

 

Questo è il secondo post non dedicato a Milano, una novità per il blog. E’ dedicato al mio paese natale Barbaiana e in particolare al palio dei rioni.

This is the second post not dedicated to Milan, a new choice for this blog. This one is dedicated to my hometown Barbaiana and in particular the “Palio dei Rioni” (Hamlet Palio).

 

Il Palio è una competizione di carri allegorici tra i rioni del Paese. Fu istituito da don Luigi Radice nel lontano 1965 come forma di aggregazione tra i cittadini del paese che proprio in quel periodo si erano moltiplicati a seguito della costruzione di un numero notevole di abitazioni.

The Palio is a floats’ competition between the hamlets of the village. Was founded by Don Luigi Radice in 1965 as aggregation’s form among the citizens, in that period they were multiplied thanks to the construction of a large number of homes.

 L’Altare della chiesa di Barbaiana

Il palio è intitolato a Santa Virginia, le cui spoglie sono custodite presso la parrocchia di Barbaiana da oltre 400 anni.

The Palio is named after St. Virginia, whose remains are kept at the parish of Barbaiana for over 400 years.

Santa Virginia

Il corpo della Santa può essere visitato dai fedeli presso la chiesa parrocchiale in occasione della festa patronale la terza domenica di settembre.

The remains of the saints can be visited by the faithful at the parish church at the patronal festival on the third Sunday of September.

a. Orta San Giulio

 

 

Orta San Giulio è un borgo situato su una penisola al centro della sponda orientale dell’omonimo lago. Fa parte del comune anche l’Isola di San Giulio, una splendida isola situata a circa 400 metri dalla riva. Il comune fa parte dei “Borghi più Belli D’Italia”.

Orta San Giulio is a village situated on a peninsula at the center of the eastern shore of the homonymous lake. The San Giulio island is part of the town too. This is a beautiful island located about 400 meters from the shore. The town is part of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy".

 

Una visita all’isola è d’obbligo, ne vale assolutamente la pena. Dalla piazza principale partono numerosi battelli, che al costo di 4 EUR vi consentono di andare a tornare dall’isola. E’ anche possibile effettuare un tour del lago.

A visit to the island is a must, it is absolutely worth it. Numerous boats depart from the little port near the main square, the round-trip ticket is 4 EUR . There’s also the chance to take a Lake tour.

 

In pochi minuti di battello si arriva sull’Isola, detta anche L’Isola del Silenzio, la quale ospita l’abbazia benedettina femminile di clausura Mater Ecclesiae. Inoltre potrete visitare la stupende Basilica di San Giulio, nella quale purtroppo è assolutamente vietato fare fotografie.

In a few minutes by boat you’ll reach the island, that is also called “The Island of Silence”, which hosts the Mater Ecclesiae Benedictine abbey a cloistered monastery. You can also visit the magnificent Basilica of San Giulio, where unfortunately is absolutely forbidden to take pictures.

 

 

Di ritorno dall’isola è possibile visitare il borgo di Orta, partendo da Piazza Motta dove si trova il Palazzo delle Comunità della Riviera, un edificio del 1582, dove si riuniva il Consiglio Generale, sotto la signoria dei vescovi-conti novaresi.

Returning from the island you can visit the village of Orta, the tour could start from Piazza Motta where there’s the Riviera’s Palace of the Community, a building of 1582. In this place, under the rule of Novara bishop-counts, is used to met the General Council.

 

Dalla piazza prendendo la Salita della Motta è possibile raggiungere la chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, edificata nel 1485. Da qui è possibile anche iniziare una splendida passeggiate, che vi porta al Sacro Monte d’Orta, che insieme agli altri Sacri Monti di Piemonte e Lombardia è patrimonio dell’umanità dell’UNESCO.

From the square taking the “Salita della Motta” is possible to reach the church of “Santa Maria Assunta”, built in 1485. From here you can also start a beautiful walk that takes you to the “Sacro Monte d'Orta”, who along with other Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy is a UNESCO World Heritage.

Per concludere ad Orta si possono trovare doversi ristoranti, osterie o semplicemente enoteche. La nostra scelta è caduta sull’enoteca / bistrot “Al Boeuch”, situata in un vicolo carinissimo e dall’atmosfera fantastica. Il alternativa, se volete spendere un po’ di più, potreste optare per il più rinomato ristorante “Villa Crespi”

Finally you can find in Orta different restaurants, taverns or just wine bar. We chose "Al Boeuch”, a bistro with fantastic atmosphere located in a very cute narrow street. The alternative, if you want to spend a little 'more, is the best known restaurant "Villa Crespi".
